The Lotus flower: Spiritual symbol of the Buddha
In the Buddhist culture the Lotus flower means "spiritual and physical purity". The muddy water from where the flower emerges is associated to the attachment, and to carnal desires, while the immaculate flower that blossoms in this water symbolises the search for light and the promise of purity and spiritual elevation
As a symbol, the Lotus flower is associated to the figure of the Buddha and to his teachings, and that is why this flower is seen as sacred in all the Middle East countries.
According to the legend when Buddha, as a child, began to walk, his first steps were followed by the blossoming of Lotuses.
