{"id":8969,"date":"2022-10-08T15:17:00","date_gmt":"2022-10-08T15:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev.kokulisworld.com\/blog\/ambar-el-oro-de-la-naturaleza\/"},"modified":"2025-03-31T21:20:13","modified_gmt":"2025-03-31T21:20:13","slug":"amber-natures-gold","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kokulisworld.com\/en\/blog\/amber-natures-gold\/","title":{"rendered":"Amber: nature&#8217;s gold"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amber is&nbsp;<strong>fossilized tree resin that has been appreciated for its color and natural beauty since Neolithic times<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;<strong>oldest Amber recovered dates to the late Carboniferous period (320 million years ago).<\/strong>&nbsp;becoming abundant long after the Carboniferous, in the Early Cretaceous, 150 million years ago, when it is found in association with insects.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The<strong>&nbsp;oldest Amber with arthropod inclusions<\/strong>&nbsp;comes from the Late Triassic (late Carnian c. 230 Ma) of Italy, where four microscopic (0.2\u20130.1 mm) mites, Triasacarus, Ampezzoa, Minyacarus and Cheirolepidoptus, and a poorly preserved nematoceran fly were found in millimetre-sized droplets of Amber.&nbsp;<strong>The oldest Amber with significant numbers of arthropod inclusions comes from Lebanon.<\/strong>&nbsp;This Amber, referred to as Lebanese Amber, is roughly 125\u2013135 million years old, is considered of high scientific value, providing evidence of&nbsp;<strong>some of the oldest sampled ecosystems.<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In Lebanon,<\/strong>&nbsp;more than 450 outcrops of Lower Cretaceous Amber and&nbsp;<strong>even older Jurassic<\/strong>&nbsp;Amber has been found recently in Lebanon as well. Many remarkable insects and spiders were recently discovered in the Amber of Jordan.\u200b<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kokulisworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ambar-el-oro-de-la-naturaleza-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8652\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kokulisworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ambar-el-oro-de-la-naturaleza-2.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.kokulisworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ambar-el-oro-de-la-naturaleza-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.kokulisworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ambar-el-oro-de-la-naturaleza-2-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.kokulisworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ambar-el-oro-de-la-naturaleza-2-400x267.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.kokulisworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ambar-el-oro-de-la-naturaleza-2-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Much valued from antiquity to the present as a gemstone,&nbsp;<strong>Amber is made into a variety of decorative objects and wdely used in jewelry making.<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The word Amber derives from Arabic \u02bfanbar \u0639\u0646\u0628\u0631 (and from Middle Persian ambar) via Middle Latin ambar and Middle French&nbsp;<em>Ambre.<\/em><\/strong><\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the Romance languages,<strong>&nbsp;the sense of the word was extended to Baltic Amber (<\/strong>fossil resin) from as early as the late 13th century. At first called white or yellow Amber (<strong><em>ambre jaune<\/em><\/strong>).<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The classical names for Amber, Latin electrum and Ancient Greek \u1f24\u03bb\u03b5\u03ba\u03c4\u03c1\u03bf\u03bd (\u0113lektron), are connected to a term \u1f20\u03bb\u03ad\u03ba\u03c4\u03c9\u03c1 (\u0113lekt\u014dr) meaning&nbsp;<strong>&#8220;beaming Sun\u201d. According to myth<\/strong>, when Pha\u00ebton son of Helios (the Sun) was killed, his mourning sisters became poplar trees, and&nbsp;<strong>their tears became Amber.<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The ancient Italic peoples of southern Italy used to work Amber; t<strong>he National Archaeological Museum of Siritide&nbsp;<\/strong>(Museo Archeologico Nazionale della Siritide) at Policoro in the province of Matera (Basilicata) displays&nbsp;<strong>important surviving examples.<\/strong>&nbsp;Amber used in antiquity, as at Mycenae and in the prehistory of the Mediterranean, comes from deposits in Sicily.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amber has a long history of use&nbsp;<strong>in China, with the first written record from 200 BCE<\/strong>. Early in the&nbsp;<strong>19th century, the first reports of amber found in North America<\/strong>&nbsp;came from discoveries in New Jersey along Crosswicks Creek near Trenton, at Camden, and near Woodbury.<\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"669\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kokulisworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/pag4ambar-el-oro-de-la-naturaleza-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8655\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kokulisworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/pag4ambar-el-oro-de-la-naturaleza-3.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.kokulisworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/pag4ambar-el-oro-de-la-naturaleza-3-300x201.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.kokulisworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/pag4ambar-el-oro-de-la-naturaleza-3-768x514.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.kokulisworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/pag4ambar-el-oro-de-la-naturaleza-3-400x267.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.kokulisworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/pag4ambar-el-oro-de-la-naturaleza-3-600x401.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>VARIETIES<\/strong><\/h3><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amber occurs in&nbsp;<strong>a range of different colors.<\/strong>&nbsp;As well as the usual yellow-orange-brown that is associated with the color &#8220;amber&#8221;, Amber can range from a whitish color through a pale lemon yellow, to brown and almost black. Other u<strong>ncommon colors include red amber (sometimes known as &#8220;cherry amber&#8221;), green amber, and even blue amber, which is rare and highly sought after.\u200b<\/strong><\/p><figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kokulisworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ambar-el-oro-de-la-naturaleza-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8658\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.kokulisworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ambar-el-oro-de-la-naturaleza-4.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.kokulisworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ambar-el-oro-de-la-naturaleza-4-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.kokulisworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ambar-el-oro-de-la-naturaleza-4-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.kokulisworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ambar-el-oro-de-la-naturaleza-4-400x267.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.kokulisworld.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/ambar-el-oro-de-la-naturaleza-4-600x400.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Yellow Amber is a hard fossil resin from evergreen trees,<\/strong>&nbsp;and despite the name it can be translucent, yellow, orange, or brown colored. Known to the Iranians by the Pahlavi compound word kah-ruba (from kah &#8220;straw&#8221; plus rubay &#8220;attract, snatch&#8221;, referring to its electrical properties), which entered Arabic as kahraba&#8217; or kahraba (which later became the Arabic word for electricity, \u0643\u0647\u0631\u0628\u0627\u0621 kahrab\u0101&#8217;), it too was called Amber in Europe (Old French and Middle English&nbsp;<em>ambre<\/em>).<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Found along the southern shore of the Baltic Sea,&nbsp;<strong>yellow amber reached the Middle East and western Europe via trade.&nbsp;<\/strong>The resin&#8217;s most popular use was, for ornamentation\u2014easily cut and polished, it could be transformed into&nbsp;<strong>beautiful jewelry.<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Much of the most highly prized Amber is transparent, in contrast to the very common cloudy amber and opaque Amber. Opaque amber contains numerous minute bubbles.&nbsp;<strong>This kind of amber is known as &#8220;bony amber&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although all Dominican amber is fluorescent,&nbsp;<strong>the rarest Dominican amber is blue Amber.
